Your mission deserves to be heard. We make that happen, for free.
Communicadillo provides free, goal-driven marketing and communications support to small nonprofits, and trains individuals from underserved communities in the digital skills that open doors.

Two programs, one mission
We want under-resourced nonprofits and the individuals they serve to be digitally savvy and independent.
What we actually do.
Every engagement starts with one question: What is your organization trying to achieve? The answer drives everything, including what we build, what tools we use, and what success looks like.

Brand and Identity
Find your voice, then make it heard.
Content and Campaigns
Communications that move the numbers that matter.

Digital Presence
Show up where it counts.
About me
I'm a nonprofit communications professional with 12 years of experience inside the organizations I now serve, from political campaigns and human rights organizations to advocacy groups and social services providers, across three continents. I built Communicadillo because I know firsthand what a small nonprofit can achieve when it communicates with clarity and intention, and how much is lost when it cannot.

Vision
A world where every nonprofit, regardless of budget, can communicate its impact, and where every person has the skills to amplify their own voice.
Mission
To close the communications gap that keeps under-resourced nonprofits from achieving their goals, and to train the communities those nonprofits serve in the digital skills that open economic doors.
What makes us different?
There are agencies. There are consultants. There are tech tools. Communicadillo is none of those things.

Practitioner-led, not tech-led
Goal-first: tools come second
Serves both organizations and individuals
Engages critically with emerging technology
Other organizations and agencies
Paid consulting or membership fees
Tech companies trying to serve nonprofits
Tool-first: AI as the pitch
Institutions only
Promotes adoption without accountability
Why partner with Communicadillo
This is not just communications capacity-building. It is a dual-impact model that addresses four priorities in one program.
Small nonprofits with clear missions often lack the communications infrastructure to fundraise, recruit, or advocate effectively. We build that infrastructure around a specific organizational goal, not a generic service menu, so the work has a measurable outcome from day one.

The skills that make a nonprofit effective are the same skills that open economic doors for individuals. We train community members, not just organizations, in digital and communications skills with real employment value, and in how to use emerging tools responsibly and critically.

We use AI tools when they genuinely help, reducing drafting time, automating repetitive tasks, and scaling content production and productivity, and we do not use them when human judgment is required for the work. Every output is reviewed and approved by a practitioner. We also teach this standard to the organizations and individuals we train.

Our team serves organizations and communities in both English and Spanish, a meaningful differentiator for organizations working with Latino-led, immigrant-serving, or multilingual-community organizations across the US.

Who this is (and isn’t) for
A strong fit if you:
Run or fund a nonprofit with a budget under $2M
Have a clear goal your organization is trying to achieve, whether that is a fundraising target, an event, a rebrand, or growing your subscriber base
Have no dedicated communications staff or limited capacity
Serve social services, youth, immigrant communities, or LGBTQ+ populations
Want to invest in community members' digital skills
Are a funder looking for a high-leverage, dual-impact grantee
Not the right fit if you:
Have an in-house marketing or communications team already
Are a for-profit business or government entity
Do not yet have a clear direction or organizational goal to build toward
Expect results without active participation
Are looking for a vendor relationship rather than a partnership
Our commitment
A partnership built on trust.

Our services are free. Always. For qualifying nonprofits, there is no fee, no catch, and no lock-in. We succeed when your organization achieves the goal it came to us with.
We ask only that you show up, engage honestly, and share what works so we can help the next organization after you.
Got questions?
Our team is already stretched thin. How much will this actually ask of us?
We designed our programs with that constraint in mind. The engagement requires a point of contact who can share organizational context and approve deliverables, not someone who manages the project. We do the strategic and production work. Some organizations choose to learn alongside us to build internal capacity over time; others just need the work done. Either model is available, and we will not push you toward one that does not fit.
We have a general sense of what we need, but not a clear goal yet. Can you still help?
We work best with organizations that have a direction, even if they have not yet defined the destination precisely. Part of the intake process is helping you articulate what success looks like. Whether you're trying to build your brand, up attendance to an event, do end-of-year fundraising, optimize your communication workflow, or launch a website, we got you.
We have had bad experiences with consultants or vendors who sold us tools we did not need. How is this different?
We do not sell tools, recommend platforms we have financial relationships with, or introduce technology because it is new or impressive. We start with your goal. Technology, including AI tools, is proposed only when it genuinely fits that goal and the realistic capacity of your team. If the right answer is a simple content calendar and a monthly newsletter, that is what we build.
Does receiving free services come with obligations or conditions we should know about?
Three things: a 60-minute kickoff session to define goals and scope, a post-engagement testimonial if you are satisfied with the work, and a referral to at least one peer nonprofit you think could benefit from our partnership. That is it. No undetermined data-sharing agreements, no ongoing reporting requirements, no paid follow-on services.
How do you think about AI in your work, given how much concern exists in the sector right now?
Carefully. We do not lead with AI. We lead with the goal an organization is trying to achieve. AI tools enter the conversation only when they are genuinely the right fit for that goal and that team. We are aware that significant portions of the nonprofit sector and the communities we serve are skeptical of or concerned about AI, and we think that skepticism is often well-founded. Our Academy curriculum includes a full module on understanding AI critically, covering job displacement, data privacy, and environmental impact, before teaching anyone how to use it—and we live by those values.
How do you handle our organization's information, and what is your content deletion policy?
Any information your organization shares with us, including internal documents, donor data, staff communications, or strategic plans, is used only to complete the work we agreed to do together. We do not share client information with third parties, use it to train AI systems, or retain it beyond the engagement without your explicit consent. When AI tools are part of our workflow, we are selective about what goes into them. Personally identifiable information, donor records, financial data, and anything your organization considers confidential does not go into AI tools. We work with you at the start of each engagement to agree on what is appropriate to use, and how. At the close of an engagement, we return all deliverables and working files to your organization. Upon request, we will delete any copies of your materials from our systems within 30 days. If you would like written confirmation of deletion, we will provide it. We are a small organization, not a SaaS platform, so we do not have automated data pipelines or retention databases. What you share with us lives in a project folder. You can ask us to close and delete it at any time.
